Veteran journalist Robert Leroy Bartley (October 12, 1937 – December 10, 2003) was the editor of the Wall Street Journal’s editorial page for more than 30 years. He won a Pulitzer Prize for opinion writing and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President George W. Bush. Bartley was senior editorial advisor at The American Spectator at the time of his death in 2003. We can think of no better way to kick off our anniversary than to honor Robert Bartley, a brilliant man and dear friend. The Robert L. Bartley Gala is a widely attended event pursuant to Senate and House Ethics Rules.
